Abstract
This article relates to the FDG-PET scan itself, to normal patterns of FDG uptake in the head and neck, and to the main indications of FDG-PET in neck oncology. FDG-PET imaging in neck oncology has a definite impact in the po st therapy setting, assisting in the management of thyroid cancers and squa mous cell carcinomas of the neck. In the detection of tumor recurrence, FDG -PET seems to be more effective and reliable than anatomic imaging techniqu es.
