The initial diagnostic impression in a patient with a "hot orbit" may evolv
e as more laboratory and radiographic information becomes available. We pre
sent a patient in whom nearly the entire differential diagnosis of painful
orbitopathy was considered before the correct diagnosis was made, after the
patient had improved and all paraclinical data, including magnetic resonan
