Cg. Kang et al., THE UPSETTING BEHAVIOR OF SEMISOLID ALUMINUM MATERIAL FABRICATED BY AMECHANICAL STIRRING PROCESS, Journal of materials processing technology, 66(1-3), 1997, pp. 30-38
The fabrication processing of semi-solid material (SSM) of casting all
oy has been studied to demonstrate the possibilities of mass productio
n with a controlled solid fraction, the SSM being fabricated for vario
us solid fractions and pre-heating temperatures of the mould. The beha
vior of the semi-solid globular microstructure has been investigated f
or various heating and die temperatures for the solid fraction. The in
fluence of the reheating time on the globularization of the SSM micros
tructure has been determined and the compression behavior of a SSM hav
ing a solid fraction of 0.5% has been observed. The relationship betwe
en the stress and the strain were also obtained from the compression t
esting of the semi-solid materials. The rheological behavior of the se
mi-solid with a globular microstructure was investigated as a function
of the compression velocity, under isothermal holding conditions. (C)
