Abstract
The hydrogenation of unsaturated aldehydes was studied over ultrasonically pretreated silica supported platinum catalyst. In the hydrogenation of cinn amaldehyde a remarkable reaction rate and cinnamyl alcohol selectivity incr ease was observed. Using other unsaturated aldehydes the reaction rate and unsaturated alcohol selectivity increased moderately. (C) 2000 Elsevier Sci ence B.V. All rights reserved.
