P. Lefevre et al., Mycobacterium intracellulare as a cause of a recurrent granulomatous tenosynovitis of the hand, DIAG MICR I, 38(2), 2000, pp. 127-129
We report a case of recurrent granulomatous tenosynovitis with M. intracell
ulare in a 55-year-old HIV negative diabetic woman. Identification of the c
ausative agent further than belonging to the hi. avium-intracellulare compl
ex is provided by specific PCR-amplification of genomic DNA and sequencing
of an hypervariable region within its 16S RNA gene. Sixteen months antibiot
ic regimen of rifabutin and clarythromycin led to a complete resolution of
the tenosynovitis. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
