Abstract
Soliton model is suggested to explain the main properties of the delayed lu minescence spectra of simple biological systems. Solitons describe self-tra pped localised electron or exciton states in low-dimensional biological mac romolecules, like alpha-helical proteins, actin filaments, microtubules, et c., and provide charge and energy transport on macroscopic distances in mai n biological processes. Such a model explains the long duration of the dela yed luminescence of bio-systems, its kinetics and dependence on the intensi ty of the stimulating light.
