Abstract
Three placement algorithms are presented that may be employed for the autom atic generation of one-line diagrams of power systems. To demonstrate the a bility of these algorithms, a one-line diagram auto generation software pro gram (ODAG) has been developed. ODAG has been implemented using the Java pr ogramming language so that it is network accessible over the Internet as a one-line diagram design tool. Algorithms implemented in ODAG include Spring Embedder, Rooted Tree and Controlled Spring Embedder with Grid Aligning. T hey autogenerate one-line diagram layouts that are aesthetically pleasing w ith acceptable readability and user friendliness. Two networks have been us ed as examples in the paper to illustrate the one-line diagrams autogenerat ed by these algorithms.
