M. Patzold et al., Design of high-speed simulation models for mobile fading channels by usingtable look-up techniques, IEEE VEH T, 49(4), 2000, pp. 1178-1190
This paper describes a procedure for the design of fast simulation models f
or Rayleigh fading channels. The presented method is based on an efficient
implementation of Rice's sum of sinusoids by using table look-up techniques
, The proposed channel simulator is composed of a few number of adders. sto
rage elements, and simple module operators, whereas time-consuming operatio
ns like multiplications and trigonometric operations are not required, Such
a multiplier-free simulation model is introduced as high-speed channel sim
ulator. It is shown that the high-speed channel simulator can he interprete
d as a finite state machine which generates deterministic output envelope s
equences with approximately Rayleigh distribution. The statistical properti
es of the designed high-speed channel simulator are investigated analytical
ly and compared with the statistics of the underlying Rayleigh reference mo
del. Results of experiments for measuring the speed of the presented and ot
her types of channel simulators are also presented.
