Abstract
Previously regarded as an adhesive bone matrix protein, recent studies sugg est that osteopontin (Eta-1) is also a novel RGD-containing cytokine that r egulates early cell-mediated immunity. Proteins related to the extracellula r matrix may function as important modulators of immune responses.
