A. Lakhtakia et Ws. Weiglhofer, Maxwell Garnett formalism for weakly nonlinear, bianisotropic, dilute, particulate composite media, INT J ELECT, 87(11), 2000, pp. 1401-1408
The homogenization of a composite medium formed by randomly dispersing elec
trically small, weakly nonlinear, bianisotropic, ellipsoidal inclusions in
a linear bianisotropic host medium is considered. The effective constitutiv
e properties of the homogenized composite medium (HCM) are estimated using
the Maxwell Garnett formalism. The linear and nonlinear properties of the H
CM are estimated separately because the nonlinearity of the inclusions is w
eak and the composite medium is dilute. Whereas previously available result
s were confined to simple dielectric media and spherical inclusions, the re
ach of the presented formalism is vast and can be significant for numerous
technological applications.
