The propose of this paper is to extend the microeconomic benchmarking appro
ach known as 'technometrics'. We offer a novel approach to measuring techni
cal change at the product level, based on intertemporal comparison of produ
ct characteristics, using objective performance measures. The goal of the s
tudy is to provide a straightforward tool for benchmarking technological so
phistication that can be portrayed graphically and shows how technological
capabilities have changed between two points in time. This paper extends th
e static analysis of a previous paper [1], as it again deals with sensors,
and implements the dynamic technometric approach on the updated sensor data
