Abstract
Shape-memory alloys have two unique properties: the shape-memory effect (ab ility of a material to be deformed at a low temperature and then revert to its prior shape upon heating) and superelasticity (the ability of a materia l to experience large recoverable strains when deformed). Many applications that take advantage of these properties require cyclic deformation, making fatigue behavior an important consideration.
