B. Martel et al., Grafting of cyclodextrins onto polypropylene nonwoven fabrics for the manufacture of reactive filters. II. Characterization, J APPL POLY, 78(12), 2000, pp. 2166-2173
A novel method for the preparation of immobilized alpha, beta, or gamma -cy
clodextrins on polypropylene nonwoven supports has been previously presente
d. The obtained new materials were prepared by graft-polymerization of glyc
idyl methacrylate onto polypropylene after activation of the support by the
electron beam technique, followed by the coupling of cyclodextrins with th
e epoxide groups. The structure of the resulting materials is characterized
in detail using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, solid state nucle
ar magnetic resonance analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogr
avimetric analysis, and optical microscopy. (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc
