Abstract
The process of the forging of a blade has been backwards simulated usi ng UBET. A pre-processing program, which can describe the shape of the blade and calculate the nodal coordinates automatically, has been dev eloped. The trapezoid element was adopted and the strain field, strain -rate field, plasticity power and friction power between the elements and the die, have been obtained. Many problems, such as the separation rule between the elements and the die, the deciding of the demarcatio n line and the adjustment of the distortional elements, etc., were sol ved during the simulation. Using a lead sample, which was manufactured according to the result of the simulation, experiments were carried o ut in a hydraulic press. The result established that the whole simulat ion is correct and that the shape of the sample is reliable and reason able. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
