Recently it has been shown that pulse reshaping in a synchronously driven f
ibre ring resonator can give rise to the formation of a soliton array which
may exist either in a 'fluid' or 'solid' state, called a soliton gas and s
oliton crystal, respectively. Here, we demonstrate in numerical simulations
that a soliton gas can be cooled to a soliton crystal by a procedure analo
gous to evaporative cooling.
