Polycrystalline samples of (Pb1-xBax)(Li1/4La1/4Mo1/2)O-3 (PBLLM), x = 0.00
, 0.03, 0.07, 0.10, compounds were prepared by solid-state reaction techniq
ue. The formation and structure of the compounds were checked by preliminar
y X-ray studies. Detailed studies of dielectric/ferroelectric (dielectric c
onstant, dielectric loss, polarisation) properties of the compounds as func
tion of temperature suggest that the compounds undergo ferro-paraelectric d
iffuse phase transition. Substitution of Ba at Pb sites affects the transit
ion temperature and ferroelectric property of the compounds. Measurements o
f DC resistivity/conductivity as function of biasing electric field and tem
perature suggest that the compounds have negative temperature coefficient o
f resistance (NTCR) or semiconducting properties above 373 K. (C) 2000 Else
