The statistical random meshing method used for the measurement of microsegr
egation in a cast microstructure was simulated using the Monte Carlo method
. The standard deviation of measurements, the effect of sample size, the el
ectron beam diameter, and the scattering on obtained solute partition coeff
icients were analyzed and evaluated. It is found that a sample size between
100 to 200 points can give satisfactory measurement. A method to use the m
easured segregation profiles in solid is suggested, Partition coefficients
obtained by the statistical random sampling method are found to represent r
eal segregation characteristics in the alloys.
