Abstract
Saturated ketosulfides were selectively oxidized with hydrogen peroxide to corresponding ketosulfoxides at 20 degrees C in the absence of a catalyst. The conversion of sulfide to sulfoxide sulfur was 89-91.6 rel. %. Ketosulfo xides were found to disproportionate at room temperature with C-S bond clea vage and formation of alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones and sulfenic acids.
