Ct. Kaiser et al., Li mobility in the battery cathode material Li-x[Mn1.96Li0.04]O-4 studied by muon-spin relaxation, PHYS REV B, 62(14), 2000, pp. R9236-R9239
The battery cathode materials Li-x[Mn1.96Li0.04]O-4 with x=1 and 0.2 were s
tudied by the zero-field muon-spin-relaxation technique. Both materials hav
e a magnetic transition below T(M)similar or equal to 25 K. At high tempera
ture, above T=230 K, a large decrease of the width of the static field dist
ribution at the muon site is found for Li[Mn1.96Li0.04]O-4, providing proof
of the onset of mobility of Li+ ions in the microsecond time range. On the
other hand, in Li-0.2[Mn1.96Li0.04]O-4 the onset of mobility of Li+ ions o
ccurs only for T>300 K, i.e., just above room temperature.
