K. Starosta et al., Excited states in I-110 and core polarization effects of the h(11/2) proton and neutron orbitals - art. no. 044309, PHYS REV C, 6204(4), 2000, pp. 4309
Excited states in I-110 have been identified for the first time using the a
lpha pn evaporation channel from the Ni-58+Ni-58 reaction at a beam energy
of 250 MeV. The experiment was carried out using GAMMASPHERE coupled to the
MICROBALL charged-particle detector array and an array of 15 neutron detec
tors. Two collective structures were observed with the yrast band built on
the pi h(11/2) x nu h(11/2) configuration. Comparisons of the yrast-band en
ergies with the excitation energies of the yrast states in even Te-52 and i
n odd Te-52 and I-53 isotopes for A similar to 110 were analyzed, revealing
different responses of the underlying cores to the valence pi h(11/2) and
nu h(11/2) orbitals. It is concluded that the neutron h(11/2) valence orbit
al has a larger influence than that of the proton h(11/2) valence orbital.
