Wf. Rogers et al., Ground-state magnetic moment of the T=1 nucleus Cl-32 using on-line beta-NMR spectroscopy - art. no. 044312, PHYS REV C, 6204(4), 2000, pp. 4312
The magnetic dipole moment of the 1(+) ground state of the T = 1 nucleus C-
32(17)15 has been measured to be mu = 1.114(6)mu(N) using conventional beta
-NMR spectroscopy. Polarized Cl-32 nuclei were produced by fragmentation of
a 100 MeV/nucleon Ar-36 beam in a 642 mg/cm(2) Nb-93 target, where the bea
m was incident on the target at an angle 2.5 degrees to the normal beam axi
s. The desired Cl-32 fragments were filtered from ether fragmentation produ
cts using the A1200 fragment separator and implanted in a NaCl single cryst
al, maintained at room temperature, at the center of a beta-NMR apparatus.
The Larmor frequency was determined by measuring the beta-decay asymmetry a
s a function of the applied radio-frequency field. Isoscalar and isovector
moments for the A = 32, T = 1 isospin multiplet are extracted and compared
with large-basis shell model calculations.
