Abstract
The case of a patient with reappearing stupor, accompanied by auditory hall ucinations and persecutory ideas during the periods and not with alternatin g excitement, is reported. After 24 years of neuroleptics medication with l ittle effect, the lithium carbonate regimen was started, which showed a rem arkable prophylactic effect. The implications of lithium carbonate treatmen t for recurrent psychosis are discussed.
