Bm. Yarnold, Did circuit courts of appeals judges overcome their own religions in casesinvolving religious liberties? 1970-1990, REV REL RES, 42(1), 2000, pp. 79-86
This project represents results from a two-decade study (1970-1990) which e
valuates federal circuit courts of appeals decisions in cases involving "re
ligious liberties," or cases dealing with the free exercise and establishme
nt clauses of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It evaluates wh
ether federal court judges, in their decisions in these cases, overcame the
ir own religious predilections. For the most part, they did, with the excep
tion of Catholic and Baptist judges who were significantly move likely to v
ender pro-religion decisions than other judges.
