Abstract
Depending on the conditions, 3-(1-hydroxycyclohexyl)-2-propynenitrile react s with 2-mercaptoquinoline to yield either 2-[1-(2-quinoiylthio)cyclohexyl] -2-cyanomethyl-4-cyanomethylene-1-oxa-3-thiaspiro[4.5]decane (5-10 wt % LiO H, 20-25 degrees C, 30 h) or 8-(2-quinolylthio)-8-cyanomethyl-16-cyanomethy lene-7-oxa-15-thiadispiro[5.2.5.2]hexadecane (5-10 wt % LiOH, 50-60 degrees C, 20 h).
