The German Teleservices Data Protection Act and its realization

Due to the German Teleservices Data Protection Act (TDDSG), teleservice pro viders (e.g. online shop providers or Internet service providers) are liabl e to provide customers with mechanisms for controlling the use of their per sonal data. Furthermore, providers have to guarantee that these data are no r misused. Although TDDSG is current law in Germany, it is still commonly ignored. We summarize the TDDSG's most important regulations and we discuss aspects of its realization. We do this by presenting a proxy-based example implementat ion which we subsequently review from the service providers' as well as fro m the customers' perspective.
