Controlled synthesis of novel dibenzene-1,2-diol Mannich bases

The synthesis of a number of novel dibenzene-1,2-diol Mannich bases can be achieved in good yields by the condensation of 2-methoxyphenol, formaldehyd e and secondary diamines. The newly developed synthetic method utilizes 2-m ethoxyphenol instead of benzene-1,2-diol providing a useful tool for greate r control over reaction products.
