Abstract
In a two-component system combining an oligophenylenevinylene (OPV) group w ith a protonable phenanthroline unit, the direction of intercomponent photo induced energy transfer can be tuned by proton input, thus allowing on/off switching of the luminescence of the OPV moiety.
