Rs. Vartapetyan et al., Porous structure of active carbons determined from the adsorption of watervapors and melting of water and cyclohexane in pores, COLL J, 62(5), 2000, pp. 526-531
The adsorption of water vapors on three types of active carbons produced fr
om starch, fructose, and wood and treated with ammonia Starch (NH3), Fructo
se (NH3), and Pelto (NH3) is studied. Using the NMR method, the process of
freezing and the subsequent melting of the liquids (water and cyclohexane)
introduced into the pores is investigated on the same samples. The paramete
rs of a microporous structure (the volume and mean sizes of micropores) det
ermined From adsorption and NMR data are found to be consistent with each o
ther and are indicative of the fact that the adsorption volume in the inves
tigated samples is concentrated mainly in ultramicropores.
