The results are given of new measurements of shock compression of porous co
pper specimens in a hemispherical measuring device at megabar pressures. Th
e initial density of the specimens is found to be rho (00) = 4.465 g/cm(3)
(porosity m = rho (0)/rho (00) = 2.0) and 2.23 g/cm(3) (m = 4.0). In a comp
arable pressure range, the obtained data do not confirm the compression par
ameters of porous copper known from the previous measurements.
