Abstract
A compact, lightweight, low-cost, dual-band antenna for GSM and DCS cellula r telephone system applications is presented. The antenna, printed on a fle xible printed circuit material and shaped round a foam former, is derived f rom the inverted-F geometry but has a much reduced conductor area. The soft ware design package IE3D was used for design purposes and there was good ag reement with measured results. The wide bandwidths required for this applic ation are readily achieved using the antenna geometry. Radiation patterns g ive omni-directional coverage in the azimuth plane.
