Abstract
A 3D MHD analysis method for conductive liquid under an alternating magneti c field is developed to evaluate the free surface motion of molten metal. A shadow method that calculates electromagnetic force in consideration of fr ee surface transition is proposed to reduce computing time and keep suffici ent accuracy: A calculated free surface of Mercury under 200 Hz magnetic fi eld shows an adequate agreement with experimental one, Free surface motions of molten steel in continuous casting process using electromagnetic stirri ng are estimated by this method.
