Abstract
A new five-coordinated complex [NiLCl]ClO4, where L = 1,5-bis(N-1-methylimi dazol-2-methyl)-1,5-diazacyclooctane, has been synthesized and characterize d by elemental analysis, IR and UV-vis spectra. The structure of the comple x has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction (CCDC 116095). Th e NI(II) atom is coordinated by four nitrogen donors of the new mesocyclic ligand L [Ni-N, 2.025(4)similar to2.130(4) Angstrom], and a chloro anion fr om the apical site [Ni-Cl, 2.340(2) Angstrom]. The coordination geometry of the complex could be considered as a distorted square-pyramidal. The diaza cyclooctane backbone has a boat/chair configuration and the two imidazole p endants are not co-planar.
