The thermoluminescence (TL) sensitivity of the LiF (TLD-100) dosimeter
to gamma-rays under the influence of N+ ion bombardment has been inve
stigated. Several groups of LiF dosimeters were consequently bombarded
by a flux of ions ranging from 3.1 x 10(13) to 25 X 10(13) ions/cm(2)
. s(-1), at different exposure times before and after an annealing ra
nge of temperature: 50-150 degrees C. The results show a relative incr
ease in the dosimeter sensitivity with a maximum of similar to 36% whe
n pre-treated for 10 min with a 4 keV ion beam having a particle flux
of similar to 21 x 10(13) ions/cm(2) . s(-1), at an annealing temperat
ure 150 degrees C. This increase was decaying to its standard value af
ter the fourth gamma-exposure-readout cycles.
