Abstract
Double-electron ionization of a model two-electron quantum system, describi ng a one-dimensional negative hydrogen ion, by a high-intensity laser pulse is investigated by direct numerical integration of the nonstationary Schro dinger equation. The possibility of interpreting the data obtained on the b asis of the rescattering concept is analyzed. It is demonstrated that elect ron-electron correlations play an important role in the description of doub le-electron ionization phenomena. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/ Interperiodica".
