Abstract
The crystal structure of 3C(13)H(14)N(3)(+)FeF(6)(3-).3.5H(2)O was determin ed. Both phenyl rings of the diphenylguanidine cation are oriented syn to t he central C=NH2 group. The anions and cations are held together by a three -dimensional network of hydrogen bonds. In the synthesis of this compound, a second phase (iron trifluoride trihydrate) was formed and identified by p owder diffraction data. Mossbauer results show two different iron environme nts compatible with the two phases reported. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
