The H-1-NMR spectra of liquid binary mixtures of acetonitrile and propan-1-
ol were recorded at 298 K over almost the whole range of the mixed solvent
compositions. From these data were found the values of the spectral paramet
er, Delta delta>(*) over bar * (ACN-PrOH). The densities (d(12)) and relati
ve permittivities (epsilon (12)) of the mixed solvent were measured at 288.
15 K, 293.15 K 298.15 K, 303.15 K and 308.15 K, as well as refractive indic
es at 298.15 K. From all these data, the molar volumes (V-m), apparent mola
r volumes (V-Phi ,V-i), partial molar volumes (V-i(0)), temperature coeffic
ients of relative permittivities (alpha (12)) and their deviations from ide
ality were calculated. Additionally, the Kirkwood's correlation factors (g(
k)) were found. The values of these properties are discussed in terms of in
teractions of acetonitrile with propan-1-ol. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
