We have investigated a general structure of the ground-state wavefunction f
or the Schrodinger equation for N identical interacting particles (bosons o
r fermions) confined in a harmonic anisotropic trap in the limit of large N
. It is shown that the ground-state wavefunction can be written in a separa
ble form. As an example of its applications, this form is used to obtain th
e ground-state wavefunction describing collective dynamics for N trapped bo
sons interacting via contact forces.
