Ion exchange experiments for the uptake of carrier free Sr-90 radioisotope
by silicone antimonate composites having a wide range of Si/Sb molar ratio
i.e. 0.18 to 2.72 were carried out. The results for various silicone antimo
nate composites in the form of kinetics and distribution coefficients showe
d that the removal of Sr-90 in the same chemical environment was directly p
roportional to the amount of antimony present in the composites. The select
ivity sequence for the removal of Sr-90 nuclide in various composites was i
n order. All the experiments were carried out in deionized water at room te
mperature.
