Abstract
The method of differential display of cDNA produced on the RNA from highly and poorly metastasizing cell lines revealed a number of genes with differe nt expression depending on the metastatic potential. An mRNA corresponding to one of these cDNA fragments (7HM) was found in increased amounts in high -metastasis but not in low-metastasis cell lines. The nucleotide sequence o f the 7HM fragment showed high homology with that of gene bet1. The Bet1 pr otein is involved in vesicular transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi complex. Enhanced expression of bet1 in high-metastasis cell line s is probably induced by the oncogene v-src.
