K. Mikami et al., Diastereomer liquid crystalline CF3 molecules: Conformational probe for (anti)ferroelectricity and spontaneous resolution of the racemates, MOLEC CRYST, 346, 2000, pp. 41-49
Diastereomeric alpha- or beta -CF3 liquid crystalline molecules (LCs) with
double stereogenic centers are reported as conformational probes for the be
nt (L-shape) conformation of antiferroelectric LCs. The diastereomeric LCs
show their intriguing features that the racemic composition for both diaste
reomers self-assemble into the enantiomeric domain spontaneously to exhibit
the electrooptic switching.
