Abstract
We experimentally and numerically investigate cross-phase modulation (XPM) induced intensity interference in a wavelength-division-multiplexed transmi ssion system employing non-return to zero format and return to zero format with different duty cycles. Optimal duty cycles with minimum XPM-induced in tensity interference are obtained for different transmission fiber types an d channel rates. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
