F. Carpentier et al., Rheological investigations in fire retardancy: application to ethylene-vinyl-acetate copolymer-magnesium hydroxide/zinc borate formulations, POLYM INT, 49(10), 2000, pp. 1216-1221
In this work, zinc berate is used as synergistic agent in EVA-Mg(OH)(2) fla
me-retardant (FR) formulations. High zinc berate content leads to a signifi
cant improvement of flame retardancy during cone calorimeter experiments. B
lowing measurements reveal significant modification of the structure due to
the presence of zinc berate. To estimate the resistance of this structure
under strength, blowing measurements were carried out under two different p
ressures. Viscosity measurements helped to elucidate the foaming process. F
inally, zinc berate can be understood to be a binder (flux agent). (C) 2000
