The catalytic performance of Mo/H[B]ZSM-5 has been investigated for methane
non-oxidative aromatization and compared with that of a Mo/H[AI]ZSM-5 cata
lyst. It is found that the non-oxidative aromatization of methane proceeds
only in the presence of weak acidic sites without the participation of stro
ng acidic sites. Coke is found to be the main cause of the rapid decrease i
n the activity of Mo/H[B]ZSM-5 catalysts.
