Abstract
Coordination compounds [TbL2(beta)(NO3)(2)] . H2O, where beta are acetylace tone (Acac), benzoylacetone (BA), benzoyltrifluoroacetone, thenoyltrifluoro acetone, or hexafluoroacetylacetone anions; L is 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) or 2,2'-dipyridyl (Dipy), were synthesized and studied by fluorescence and EPR spectroscopy. Thermoluminescence was observed in [Tb(Phen)(2)Acac(NO3) (2)] . H2O, [Tb(Dipy)(2)Acac(NO3)(2)] . H2O, and [Tb(Phen)(2)BA(NO3)(2)] . H2O. The electronic aspects of the ligand influence on the thermoluminescen ce properties of the complexes were discussed. The radical-anion mechanism of the formation of trap states in the compounds under study was proposed.
