Abstract
Nitrification of the MBR process for sewage treatment was investigated with a pilot scale plant in this study. Complete nitrifcation occurred where th e sludge retention time (SRT) was over 5 days. The maximum nitrification ra te (Rmax) of the biomass was determined with batch tests and was found to b e around 1.71 - 2. mgNO(3)(-)-N/gVSS-h. Nitrification was affected more by the influent C/N ratio than SRT.
