The proposed work deals with the behaviour of orthotropic composite beams s
ubjected to torsion, taking into consideration the effects due to nonunifor
m warping. We start from a one-dimensional approach based on the integral p
arameter method and consider any complex cross-sectional shape. The basic r
elations obtained lead to numerical computation based on the finite element
method. As a special case of the general results obtained, an example of a
sandwich beam is worked out in detail.
