R. Churchill et al., Treating depression in general practice: factors affecting patients' treatment preferences, BR J GEN PR, 50(460), 2000, pp. 905-906
We performed a cross-sectional survey of general practice attenders to dete
rmine their preferences regarding treatment for depression and characterist
ics associated with such preferences. Counselling was more popular than dru
g therapy (antidepressants), particularly among women, those who believed a
ntidepressants are addictive, and those who had received such treatment in
the past.
