In this study, the use of low temperature (85-110 degrees C) energy so
urces in ammonia-water absorption refrigeration systems was investigat
ed, and a thermodynamic analysis of the ARS was performed. The system
consists of the condenser (drum), evaporator, absorber (drum), pump ex
pansion valves, reboiler, distillation column (top, bottom, feed) with
refrigerant and mixture heat exchangers. Using the mathematical model
, the system variations of circulation ratio and coefficient of perfor
mance of the cycle with design and working parameters are obtained. Th
e results are compared with results given in the literature, and optim
um working conditions are determined. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
