Yt. Xiong et al., Synthesis and characterization of p-dodecaoxydithiobenzoic acid-nickel (II) complex as stationary phase of liquid crystal type, CHEM J CH U, 21(9), 2000, pp. 1413-1415
p-Dodecaoxydithiobenzoic acid-nickel( II) complex with a liquid crystal nat
ure(DDBN) was synthesized and characterized by using the differential scann
ing calorimetry(DSC) and GC, DSC measurements showed that DDBN exhibited a
mesomorphic behavior and that the phase transition occurred at 95 degreesC
and 125 degreesC, The dependence of Igk' vs, reciprocal temperature for cyc
loparaffins indicated also the same temperature of phase transition, In thi
s paper, DDBN was used first as the stationary phase to the separation of p
ositional isomers, The results indicated that DDBN was stable at temperatur
e ranging from 80 degreesC to 240 degreesC and adequate for the separation
of isomer of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, 1-Methylnaphthalene and 2-met
hyl-naphthalene were separated at the baseline using 3 m x 3 mm column of D
DBN, Phenanthrene and anthracene were separated also easy using the same co
lumn, The infinite-dilution partial molar enthalpy and entropy of four anal
ytes in this system were obtained by means of plotting. Thermodynamic prope
rties and the mechanism for retention were also discussed.
