Abstract
We examine how subsidy policies to support child-rearing affect fertility. The effect of the policy depends on two factors: time spent by males on chi ld-rearing; and the tax rate. We show that fertility may be lower with a su bsidy policy. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
